The Weather

Coming soon. We are evaluating data sources to bring weather to The Time Mag without compromising the design or pulling in trackers.

Why we haven't shipped weather yet

Weather looks like a small feature, but it isn't. Reliable global forecasts come from a small number of meteorological services (NOAA, ECMWF, Met Office), and serving them on every page would mean either an expensive paid API or one of the free aggregators that come with usage caps and attribution requirements that conflict with our quiet aesthetic.

We're working through three candidates: Open-Meteo (free, ECMWF-backed, no API key), the German DWD's open data, and a self-hosted GFS pipeline. We will publish here when one wins.

What this page will look like

For each city in our index, you'll get current conditions, a seven-day forecast, sunrise and sunset (already on every city page today), and historical climate norms — January average highs and lows for travelers, that sort of thing. Set in the same type, with the same restraint as the rest of the site.
